My husband is a musician. When we were first dating, I asked him what he does for fun, when he’s not working on his music. I explained that I listen to music, either to relax, or to build a certain beat and melody into the story – drums for action scenes, for example. ’No one’s ever asked me that,’ he said. Well, I’m pretty good at firsts. Someday, I’ll tell you about the accidental insult on our first date – which I guess was okay because we’ve been married for going on 8 years come New Year’s Eve.
But I digress. We started talking about it and realized that when most people come home from work (or turn off their computer and stop working for the day), they might read a book. Okay, maybe not right after work, maybe before bed. You know what I mean. Then, he flipped the script, and said, ‘Well, you’re a ghostwriter. What do you do when you’re not working on someone else’s project?’
‘Ah, that’s easy. Six days a week, I write for clients while working on my own stories. But on Sundays, I write for me’. Gives whole new meaning to a month of Sundays, doesn’t it?
But that month of Sundays? It consists of 15 minutes to 2 hours every day, writing from brain to book. Thank you for joining me on this journey.
What do you do to relax?
